Your adventure starts high above the Val d’Elsa, in a typical Tuscan hill top town where panoramic views stretch across vine-covered hills toward the distinctive silhouette of San Gimignano’s famous towers. From this elevated starting point, you’ll begin a gradual, scenic descent along quiet country roads that wind through working vineyards, ancient olive groves, and patches of native woodland.

The route takes advantage of natural topography, offering an exhilarating yet comfortable ride that’s more about enjoying the journey than conquering challenging terrain. Regular stops at scenic viewpoints allow you to capture photographs and absorb the magnificent landscapes.

The Medieval Manhattan Revealed

As you approach San Gimignano, its famous skyline grows ever more impressive. Thirteen medieval towers rise from the hilltop town like ancient skyscrapers, earning it the nickname “Medieval Manhattan.” These remarkable structures, once symbols of wealthy families’ power and prestige, now stand as UNESCO World Heritage monuments preserving nearly a thousand years of architectural history.

Your cycling journey concludes at the bottom of the descent and then we jump in the van for a ride up the hill to the town itself.
